Terrific Trees of Texas©
Terrific Trees of Texas© is our Arbor Day poster contest open to 4th grade students from the six school districts of Montgomery County. It focuses on the native trees, plants and beneficial insects of Texas. Each year we select a tree, bird and butterfly native to Texas and publish an educational brochure to introduce students to our annual selections. Students must incorporate these three elements into their poster.
The students that win the contest are awarded the title of Arbor Day Ambassador and represent their respective school districts at the annual Montgomery County Beautification Association’s Texas Arbor Day ceremonies held in the fall at Lone Star College – Montgomery to support the college’s Tree Campus USA program.
The winning poster images are featured on the bookmarks we donate to the seven branch libraries of the Montgomery County Memorial Library System and are distributed to library patrons that participate in the Summer Children’s Reading program.
